Howe was formerly called Lima, and the original seat of the county of Lagrange. It has some buildings that have been standing since even my great grandfather's time (and possibly before him). Although it seems that we are going out with the old and in with the new; the Kingsbury house, once a fancy hotel in the time of my grandsire, fell to disrepair. Now, in the past year or so, it is being rebuilt into it's former glory with much of the old building being demolished.
Howe is quite a small town. We have 4 gas stations (3 in the main township) 2 restaurants, two pizzeria's, two banks, a pub, a car dealership and the military school. Town events include the farmers market on Saturday mornings in summer in the town park and the yearly parade.
We have no central government, no police and only a volunteer fire department. The Lagrange city police service us as well as the Lagrange county sheriff.
That is a short run-down of our little town. If you would like to learn more look us up on www.in.gov
